Meet the Photographer!

Hello fans, old and new!

I'm Kara! I'm the one that works behind the camera and screen for Photography by Kara in Ohio! I truly enjoy what I do. I thought to get started I would feature a little "about me" questionnaire so that you can all get to know the one photographing you! :)

Before photography, where did you stand in what you wanted to do with your life?

Before photography, I was (and still am) very interested in Psychology! I hope one day I am able to connect the two and make a career out of them both! :)

What part of photography really moves you?

The part of photography that really moves me, is capturing beauty. The small details, the little smiles and laughs, the windows to the soul, the beauty that each individual holds deep within them. I love capturing those moments that make someone say "I'll hold this dear to me forever!" That's what is important, I believe.

Has your work progressed since you started?

Absolutely. My camera as well as my views and my techniques and style have progressed immensely! I feel much more comfortable with my work than I did say, a year ago.

Have you been successful?

I believe I've been successful. Perhaps not money-wise, but in growing, learning, and capturing special moments, I find the measure of my success pretty good!

Can you name some photographers that really inspire you?

Someone that truly inspires me is Christina Terrano with Terrano Photography. She captures beautiful images and her personality and willingness to help others rocks!

What do you think makes a good photographer?

I believe a photographer has to have a personality, a good one. After all, you work with people every day, some more difficult to handle than others. So you have to know how to talk and act. You also have to know your camera and know what you're capable of! If you know what you're capable of and you work hard every day to get where you wanna be, I believe that makes you a good photographer.

What was your best client experience? Your worst?

I've dealt with several different clients. I think the worst are always the ones who want more than they paid for, or more than what other people pay for when offered a free session. It's offending to a photographer that is trying to make something of herself. However, I have great client experiences as well! I've met a lot of great people with fun personalities that are willing to really put themselves out there and show the beauty they hold!

Will you be doing photography the rest of your life?

I absolutely hope so! Unless something major such as a medical issue prevents me in he future, I hope to be capturing memories for the rest of my life. It's what I enjoy and - I believe in living a life you'll enjoy!

What's a dream of yours regarding photography?

Part of me, really wants to do fine arts photography one day. Create unique images that really tell a story. I think that would be amazing. I also want to travel to different countries and capture the beauty in the details of different places.

Do you think you have room for improvement?

Absolutely! I believe everyone has room for improvement! I have tons of things that I am learning every day to help me improve in my work.

Do you have a favorite photo?

I always think "this is my favorite photo", but I end up finding a new one with each shoot that I do. So I definitely couldn't pick just one. :)

What is your personality like?

During my shoots, my personality really tends to shine through! I'm extremely caring and fun to work with! I try my absolute best to make you comfortable so that the shoot goes well for us both. I have been working with people for years and years and I've developed a great personality towards the people I work with! It's all about being fun and comfortable!

What do you love about working with different people?

I've worked with and known several different types of people. People with health problems, with mental health problems, people of different races and people from all different sorts of places and stages in life. But the one thing I really learned was that these people are all BEAUTIFUL. In my work, I try my best to capture the beauty in people that don't see themselves as beautiful because society just won't allow them to. But to me, each and every person is beautiful in their own unique way. And that's what my job is all about. Is showing people how truly beautiful they are.

Has photography changed anything personally in your life for you?

Definitely! I had mentioned above that I've learned to see the beauty in everyone. My outlook on life has changed so much. Instead of hiding in my comfort zone...The things I'm used to, the way I live, the people I'm around, etc. I really strive to go outside of that comfort zone. That's why I wish to experience different cultures, meet different people, all unique in their own way, all beautiful, and never stop seeing that BEAUTY in EVERYTHING. That's my outlook on life and I hope it never changes. Photography really changes your perspective.
